Good pre-aim isn't flashy, but it wins the ugly fights. If you've spent time around MW4 Boosting, you'll know how often a clean opening shot decides whether a push feels easy or instantly falls apart.

Build the sightline before the enemy appears

Under Ballistic Authority, you can't lean on random spread to rescue a loose crosshair. That's the big change. Your reticle needs to be parked where a player is actually likely to show, not drifting around the doorway because you're waiting for visual confirmation. Think about shoulder width, head height, and the side of cover they'll expose first. On a familiar lane, this becomes muscle memory. You stop reacting to a body on screen and start firing into the exact space that body has to enter.

Set your crosshair near the first visible head line, not the middle of an empty doorway.
Leave a tiny gap from cover, so their model doesn't appear underneath your reticle.
Hold still until new information arrives, then move with purpose rather than nervous flicking.

Use sound to choose the right hold

Footsteps are more than a warning. They tell you which angle deserves your full attention. A sprinting enemy may cross the opening fast, while slow steps often mean someone is piecing the corner carefully. Don't hold the same spot for both. When the audio is close, turn your body before the target arrives and let the crosshair lead the likely route. If the sound shifts floors or passes behind a wall, reset your aim instead of stubbornly guarding the old line. Plenty of deaths come from hearing the right clue, then refusing to trust it.

Fast footsteps call for a slightly wider hold, giving you room for a full-speed crossing target.
Quiet movement usually means tighter placement near the edge they'll peek from first.
Jump routes need higher aim, especially near railings, stairs, windows, and broken cover.

Reality check: Holding one doorway forever feels safe, but a decent opponent will usually find another route or force you to move.

Match your aim height to the fight

Aim height changes with the situation, and this is where many players lose easy damage. Standing targets demand a head-level hold, sure, but crouched players behind low cover change the picture. Their upper chest may be the first usable target. Vertical spaces create another problem: stairs, ledges, ramps, and drop-downs can make a perfect flat-ground hold useless. Before you settle into an angle, ask what posture the other player can realistically use. It takes half a second. Over a match, that small check saves a lot of rushed corrections and missed first shots.

Against low cover, hold upper-torso height where a crouched player can actually be hit immediately.
On stairwells, track the slope with your reticle instead of keeping a flat horizon line.
After damaging someone, expect a re-peek at a different height rather than repeating your original placement.

Turn map knowledge into calmer gunfights

The best players don't need wild reactions on every corner. They've already made the useful decisions earlier. Learn a few reliable holds per map, connect them to nearby audio cues, and practise leaving bad angles before they trap you. That habit makes close fights feel slower. Even players browsing CoD MW4 Boosting for sale can benefit from sharper angle discipline, because better placement gives every shot a clearer job.
